 Beyrouth today, a city destroyed seven times, rebuilt as many times. Soraya is a tourist guide, who roams the country, mixing past civilisation tracks with recent war destruction. She gives herself to passing lovers. Soraya?s friend, Leyla, sails between exacerbated mysticism and atheism; Nadim, the architect, tries to reinvent his city and Tarek wonders why he went back to his country.They are all suspended, stuck in the present. They do not dare looking behind them, even less projecting themselves ahead. What lives, what stories could one create, after such a disaster in Lebanon ? |
